Workers may observe a law being violated, or may be asked to participate in an illegal activity at work. If you report these activities to your employer, a governmental agency or a law enforcement officer, and are then fired, suspended, or otherwise retaliated against, your employer has violated your rights both under Federal law and under Texas law.

Employers are also prohibited from retaliating against employees who report workplace safety violations.

An employee whose job is terminated or suspended for whistleblowing is entitled to get his or her job back, along with compensation for lost wages, and reinstatement of benefits and seniority rights, as well as attorney fees and court costs.
